[J3] Meeting #234 Planning / Straw Poll ("October meeting")

If Beaverton remains a problem, and enough are interested, I can
investigate the possibility of a Pasadena meeting.
Even without renting a car, getting to Pasadena from LAX is not
terribly difficult: Take the Flyaway bus to Union Station, then the
Metro Gold Line to Pasadena. From the Burbank airport (which I much
prefer if I can get flights), there is a Metrolink train that runs to
Union Station. The Burbank airport has a complimentary shuttle to both
nearby train stations.

Courtyard Inn and Mariott Residence Inn are very close to a Metro
station. The Dena Hotel used to be a Holiday Inn; it's about 1/2 mile
from the same Metro station. There are also hotels by Westin, Hilton,
and Hyatt. Hilton and Hyatt are very close to a bus line that also
stops at a different Metro station. I don't know who owns the Pasadena
Hotel, which is within 1/2 mile of uet another Metro station. The
Langham Huntington, formerly Huntington Sheraton and then Ritz Carlton
Huntington, is a fantastic hotel, but about three times the price of
the others.
In June, I could probably have arranged free meeting rooms at Caltech,
but almost certainly not in October. There aren't any hotels near
Caltech, the Pasadena Hotel being the closest, about a mile from the
center of the Caltech campus. A meeting at Caltech would be like our
Fairfax meeting, but without the two feet of snow.
