This is sad news. I met Dan in 2019, both he and Steve Lionel (the J3 leadership at the time) were very nice to get me up to speed on the Fortran committee processes, and fill me in on the history of why certain things are designed the way they are. Like Damian said, Dan has been keen on collaborating, we were planning for him to teach co-arrays at LANL and for me to come to NCAR, but it didn't work out due to Covid.

Dan was a great guy, always friendly and eager to help and I always enjoyed interacting with him.

Rest in peace Dan.
