Note that in an earlier era IBM “abandoned” OSX when Apple switched to Intel chips.
Completely understandable in both instances, albeit unfortunate from my perspective. For now I can still use the pre-ifx compilers on OS X (though very slow due to rosetta). In the end, I only need one reliable compiler on my laptop. I can test my code with the other compilers on our (Linux) cluster on demand.

The Intel Fortran compiler can also be downloaded for "free" and used without a license.
Intel has abandoned MacOS, and especially Mac ARM processors. Therre will be no new versions of ifort for MacOS with Intel chips, and no ifx versions at all.
Apple abandoned Intel - there's no motivation for Intel to continue offering compilers for non-Intel CPUs. Apple was also extremely difficult to deal with, and placed significant obstacles in the way of a full-featured Intel Fortran compiler on the platform.
