FWIW, RATFOR <https://www.osti.gov/servlets/purl/5330897>, JPL Athena TFOR,
and many others had introduced ";" as a statement separator to the wider
Fortran community long before the 1990 Standard was released. So any
semicolon's in source code were almost certainly statement separators in
then existing codes ;>
