Reports of feature death, like syntax disagreements, are a little exaggerated.

 

Yes, there was a lot of disagreement on syntax *preference* yesterday, but when we took the “acceptability” vote, it was not so close 8-3 (6 undecided) in favour of a specific concise form, and I’ve since heard that two of the “3” against the majority are reconsidering (I was one of the three, and on reflection although I strongly dislike one aspect of the chosen form, I would not vote it down).

 

I therefore consider the syntax question basically decided, there will be revised papers appearing a bit later. There *might* be a minor tweak based on a suggestion made during the discussion which appeared to be popular.
