I again agree with Anton.  Data should pick one.  I would not vote against the feature because of the way it is spelled.  I would vote against the feature because it has two spellings.

I agree that if we can get a majority approval with the Data subgroup recommendation, this would be good.    I just don't want to lose the feature over the schism.    

I agree that the tendency to pull-the-rug is somewhat surprising, but there appears to be some sentiments in that direction.

    Agreed.

    In fact, I am a bit surprised that there is a tendency to simply pull the rug from the feature simply based on syntax non-preferences.
