Reinhold asked about the function result whether it's  `X // C_NULL_CHAR`
versus `TRIM(X) // C_NULL_CHAR`  From what I recall from the J3 meeting(s),
the optional ASIS parameter can play a role in this.  But I felt Steve L.
can best address that because I'm unsure of the details myself and haven't
reviewed the J3 work papers on this, specially the Edits one, vis-a-vis
20-007r1.

But please ignore this if I'm wrong about ASIS and Reinhold's question on
the result.
