I received an e-mail announcement fromthe IEEE Standards association. It isa call for participation in a new projectby the IEEE Working Group. The name ofthe new project is "Additional Floating-Point Formats to Support Machine Learning".If you want to participate in the project, you will need to be a member of the IEEEStandards Association. The title of thegroup working on the project is "IEEEStudy Group on Additional Floating-PointFormats to Support Machine". I assumethe announcement should have includedthe word "Learning" at the end.
The new project has not been discussedon the IEEE 754 mailing list. To thebest of my knowledge, the only activeofficer of the IEEE Working Group is thenew editor.
