Hi Dan,
This is certainly very sad news, both for Fortran and for me personally. I
have deeply appreciated your expertise and wisdom as you guided J3, and I
have also really enjoyed getting the chance to talk with you over lunch or
on a walk. You will be sorely missed.
If there is anything we can do to persuade you to apply for Emeritus
status, as you suggested might be possible, please do let us know.
