Yes that is indeed the point. I am attributing to much meaning to a 
loosely define term.

If I understand it correctly now, although "auto-targetting feature" is 
used to refer to 15.5.2.7p2 it is only meant to mention the new feature 
introduced by 06-108r1 (I think) and consequently, like Malcolm Cohen 
wrote, applies only to non-pointers.
