Yes, I do this, as does Robert Corbett. My payment to INCITS was $1340
for 2020 - it goes up every year. Just think, you wouldn't have to
justify your membership to anyone else (other than your wife - mine
approves.)
A nit - there is no such thing as an "individual membership" with
INCITS. One pays the fee for organizations with revenue less than $1M.
Otherwise, the Emeritus status would be worthwhile if you wanted to be
able to attend meetings and/or participate in the work. We did this for
Stan, though he didn't get to enjoy it for long. But, yeah, the INCITS
cost is dwarfed by travel costs (you at least don't have to pay airfare
for Vegas meetings.)
