A reasonable point.  However, in your case, Van, you certainly qualify for emeritus membership as an individual (which is free) and I’m sre the committee wold support that..  It allows you to attend meetings and participate. Technically you can’t vote, but that rarely matters in practice anyway.  

But, the issue is relevant for other members, who would normally be getting membership bills in December.  It would be “fair” for INCITS to wave the membership fees for 2021 for those who have paid for 2020.   However, INCITS likes their (our) money, so I wold not expect that is a given. OTOH, airlines, who also like our money, seem to be extending frequent-flyer statuses for a year.
