I didn't say I can't provide rooms. I didn't say anything about rooms.
I haven't done any research since my initial invitation, long ago, to
have accomodations at the Hilton Hotel, and meeting rooms (free of
charge) at the Caltech campus, a mile from the Hilton Hotel.
The Hilton Hotel sales representative with whom I was in contact left
Hilton and went to the New Otani Hotel, which is now the Double Tree by
Hilton, in downtown Los Angeles near Little Tokyo. I discussed J3
meetings there with her, but nothing came of it. I haven't communicated
with Hilton Hotel in Pasadena or Double Tree by Hilton in Los Angeles
since then.
I'll ask again if Caltech can provide meeting rooms.
I'll ask the five Pasadena hotels that have reasonable rates whether
any are willing to provide committments for sufficient free meeting
rooms.
When I inquired several years ago, Caltech couldn't provide
accomodations in student houses because of summer programs. That might
be different in 2022. There is a faculty club that has rooms, but it's
very expensive, and has only 23 rooms, and maybe available only by way
of members (I'm not a member, although membership has been offered to
me).
