While I am just an observer to this mailing list and other J3 activities, I
will momentarily break my silence and offer a voice of support for Ondrej
and his work on reaching out to the Fortran community.
By establishing a public space to discuss the J3 proposal process, and
personally reaching out to many of us, Ondrej has expanded upon Steve's own
notable efforts to publicly document the committee's actions, and has
helped many of us better understand the motivations behind these actions.
For people like myself working on community codes with growing user bases,
common standards and compliance are critically important for supporting
these codes on diverse platforms. Our investment in the language is
ultimately dependent on how much this group is invested in us and our
work. Ondrej's platform would help to further strengthen that relationship.
I'm continuously impressed with the committee's dedication to resolving
technical issues, and I hope that they will increase community engagement
and consider the bolder steps taken by Ondrej this last year.
