Apologies,

All,
With the meeting only a little more than a week away, I think it would be useful to perhaps coordinate a few basic details for the spouses/guests that will be touring in Tokyo during the meeting.
Presumably they would assemble in the lobby of Forest Hongo on the morning of the 5th and head out into the city as a group. Sharing interest in any particular destinations in advance might help to precipitate concrete plans.
I also think it would be useful if there was a consolidated list of contact information among the party so that people can be kept informed as plans evolve. Contact information for my wife: Marilyn Clune, mclune at verizon.net<mailto:mclune at verizon.net>, 240-274-5487 (TEXT only - we will not have a voice service in Japan).
Makki - if you have managed to persuade a student to be a guide on one or more days, please let us know.
Cheers,
- Tom

John, Philip, both Tom,
and those who might bring their spouses,
As the local host of the Tokyo meeting, I am planning to persuade those students who want
to communicate with foreign people, to come and help your spouse enjoy during the meeting.
This will be an informal volunteer activity, and it might not necessarily be every day,
or not always the same person. It is most appreciated if you pay for their transports and
other expenses they need for guiding. The details will be arranged after the new school
year begins in April.
As Malcolm would agree, Tokyo is no longer a difficult place for English-speaking people
to look around by themselves, especially when everybody is preparing for the upcoming 2020
Olympic Games. But, it might be very hot and humid in summer, these years, and some help
would be highly desirable to enjoy more.
Regards,
Makki

I will likely be attending. If I do, my partner Elizabeth Mead will come along. She
enjoyed her last visit to Tokyo.
Best wishes.

All,
My wife Marilyn would be interested in coming to Japan with me, but only if there
are other people with whom to explore Tokyo (or possibly beyond?). If other
spouses/relatives are planning on visiting Tokyo during the meeting, I would very
much like to put my wife in touch with them.
Alison is thinking about it. Just one other accompanying person going
would make all the difference for her.
John.
Cheers,
- Tom
