All,

If you are attending the WG5 meeting and consider it likely that you would attend a dinner outing during the week of the meeting, please fill out the following survey to inform my planning:

The survey includes a question for open-ended feedback.  To make it easy to collect responses in one place, I would prefer to receive feedback via the survey rather than by email.

As a tentative plan, I have made a reservation for 20 people in the Lake Room at the Lake Chalet Seafood Bar & Grill for Wednesday, June 13, at 6:30 PM.  The room is shown in the attached floor plan.  The survey includes other day and time choices. The Lake Chalet is located in the historic Oakland Bouthouse adjacent to Lake Merritt near downtown Oakland, about a 25-minute drive from the WG5 meeting location.  In the same building is a lovely Gondola Service that is open until 11 PM for anyone who would like to venture out onto the lake with a gondolier rowing and answering questions.  The primary goal of the survey is to decide between the following two options:
Option 1: With the aforementioned reservation, everyone can pay their own tab to the restaurant directly, but there will be other diners in the room, and we won’t all be at one table. The maximum size of party that can pay separate tabs is 20 people.
Option 2: I can sign a contract for the Private Dining Room (also shown in the attached floor plan).   The food cost per person would be $55 to be paid to Sourcery Institute.  Beverages, taxes, and service would be additional costs. Sourcery Institute will cover the room rental fee ($150). I will be glad to explore the possibility of additional corporate sponsorship to defray some of the costs.

I have also attached our Chef’s limited menu which will allow your guest count of under 25 to order during the event.  This menu is also nice because I can customize it by removing prices, items, and even creating a custom title to it. Thank you for inquiring about private dining space at the Lake Chalet in Oakland.  You are in luck!  I currently have availability for your special event.  We have several options for your affair:

 

The Gondola Room is a private room that provides breathtaking three-directional views of Lake Merritt and surrounding hills. This private room can seat 80 to 120 guests for a seated meal and up to 175 for a cocktail reception.  The room includes hardwood floors, a private bar and a  balcony overlooking the dock below. 
 

The Pumphouse & Private Dining Area is a combined semi private area located at the front entrance of the restaurant great for dining and dancing..  Guests are entertained by lively music playing overhead and the nearby bar area, while enjoying spectacular views of Lake Merritt & Lake Merritt Park.  A sectioned area has a cozy gas-burning fireplace, illuminating wine racks and a large flat screen monitor perfect for presentations or dj entertainment.  This space is perfect for cocktail receptions of 125 guests or seated dinners for 90 guests.  
 

The Pumphouse is a semi private area located at the front entrance of the restaurant.  The space has cathedral ceiling with dangling amber glass fixtures and is next to the marble topped bar and open kitchen which gives a peek into the culinary action.  Guests are entertained by lively music playing overhead, while enjoying spectacular views of Lake Merritt.  This space is perfect for cocktail receptions of 75 guests or seated dinners for 20 to 60 guests.   Partial rental available for smaller groups. You can also add on The Private Dining Room if your count increases or if you need room for entertainment
 

Our Private Dining Room is an intimate room with garden views of Lake Merritt Park.  The space can accommodate 36 guests for a seated meal or up to 40 guests for reception style.  This room also has a cozy gas-burning fireplace, illuminating wine racks and a large flat screen monitor perfect for presentations.  You will find this room ideal for board meetings or small social gatherings.  
 

Outdoor Dock Space is also an available for groups of 40 to 60 guests who wish to celebrate al fresco style.  It's a fun & festive way to celebrate!    
 

A Restaurant Reservation in the Lake Room for groups of 20 & under can be made by contacting the Hostess directly at #510-735-9047 x0 
 

A Partial or Full Restaurant Buyout is an option for groups 120- 400 guests.  Pricing and availability are up to the owners discretion
