I have a use-case paper for containers that I need to touch up and will be submitting in time for the February meeting.     There are multiple aspects, some of which touch upon generic programming, which will make it very interesting to see how it gets categorized in subcommittee.

Fortunately, as you indicate below, it is probably not an all-or-nothing thing.   More like, can we identify some low-lying fruit that has disproportionate benefit?

Well, it is allowed for elemental already, because the dummy arguments are all scalar.

I agree we should do what we can to support container classes.  Of course we do already have basic support for them, but if there is something not too difficult we can do to improve the support, that could be worthwhile.
