(j3.2006) (SC22WG5.5843) 2018 WG5 meeting dates and venue

All,

Based on the poll conducted in January, the consensus dates for the 2018 WG5 meeting are Monday-Friday, June 11-15, 2018. ?That was the only week that works for all respondents.?

At the February J3 meeting, I presented a proposal with several options for the meeting venue. ?The proposal is available in the WG5 folder on j3-fortran.org?with the file name ?wg5-2018-proposal.pdf?. ?From the research that I?ve done so far, it remains the case that the best option appears to be holding the meeting at the Asilomar Conference Grounds (http://www.visitasilomar.com), which is the first option listed in the proposal. In addition to being a beautiful location, it?s the only option that I?ve found for having rooms and the meeting all in one location at a reasonable cost and with minimally complexity logistics (e.g., no rental cars required) and acceptable rooms.

I am still investigating one or two other options (including corresponding with J3?s Marriott contact) and will update everyone soon if anything changes. ?Otherwise, I expect to visit Asilomar within the next 1-2 weeks to review the bedrooms and meeting rooms and will block aside rooms there unless something else seems significantly better.
