All,
Apparently the online reservations tool is still not allowing June 2018 bookings even though I?ve confirmed that our block of rooms have been reserved for then. ?For now, please make your reservations by calling or emailing the front desk. ?Here are the relevant details from the flyer:
Call (510) 495-8000 to call our Front Desk. Reference your group name and / or booking code when you make your reservation.
Email the Front Desk directly at reservation at berkeleylabguesthouse.org and refer to the group name and / or booking code?
Someone should be at the desk at all hours. ?However, I sometimes get a voice mail and then call back later to reach someone.
Best Regards,

All,
We now have a block of 15 rooms reserved at the Berkeley Lab Guest House, which is on-site at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL), where we will hold the 2018 WG5 meeting. ?Attached please find booking instructions. ?If we fill these rooms, I will inquire about the possibility of blocking aside additional rooms so please make your reservations early. ?The block of rooms is being held from the Friday before the meeting to accommodate those who would like to attend the geezers meeting. The block is held until the Sunday after the meeting for those who will stay for the weekend after the meeting.
The basic room rate is $140/night. ?Based on my research from a few months ago, it would be challenging to find housing of comparable quality that is below the government per diem rate, which is $161/night for 2016. If anyone does plan to stay off-site, feel free to pass your options by me for feedback. ?
Last week, I met with LBNL staff members Richard Gerber and Brian Freisen, who are generously providing assistance with the meeting planning. ?Based on that discussion, we believe it?s simplest to have the geezers meeting off-site to avoid the escorting requirements that would be imposed on the meeting attendees if we were to use LBNL meeting rooms on the weekend. ?I will write later with details on the geezers meeting.
Best Regards,
