I don't have any Windows computers.  My LibreOffice has trouble with
docx files, frequently spraying characters in random fonts and sizes all
over my screen.  If it can't be converted to text, at least try to
convert it to pdf.  I think there's an "export as pdf" button in Word
(but I don't know for sure).
