Hi folks,

I notice a number of submitted papers have edits which one might characterise as lacking sufficient motivating explanation, or indeed any explanation whatsoever.  Indeed, in some cases the reverse edit (were the edit already applied to the text) would appear to be equally plausible.

The editor is likely to reject out of hand any edit beyond the trivial (viz spelling errors) which he considers to be insufficiently motivated.

That goes to the power 100 for any edit which modifies a syntax rule or appears on the face of it to have, potentially, any technical effect.
