If a program needs REAL(X,K) to be NOP so as to (a) run fast and (b) get
the right answer, either it's artfully contrived, or somebody needs to
send a telegram to the blithering idiot who wrote the program and tell
him DON'T DO THAT!  JUST USE X!

If he also wanted SQRT and SIN to be NOP, would we truckle to him?
