Which would be fine by me. I had actually send this question in form of
an interpretation request to Van ;-) To give credit to whom credit
belongs: The problem was initially found be Steve Kargl.

It is probably too late, but I would be happy if this change would be
already in the Fortran 2008 standard and not only in its corrigenda. (It
is somehow nicer to read a single document than one document and several
corrigenda - though the latter are unavoidable.)
