That was the file I was looking for but I could not find. I had the
(correct) feeling that WG5 decided differently, but I had some search
problems for 04-007, where Acrobat seemingly only found C1209 in the
(informative) Annex but not in the main part of the standard (actually
it is also in 12.3.2.1), which puzzled me.

Can http://j3-fortran.org/doc/standing/links/ be updated?
http://j3-fortran.org/doc/standing/links/016.txt is
much older than http://j3-fortran.org/doc/year/10/10-006A.txt
