I have asked to change the name of LOCKED in hpc subgroup meetings, but my 
concerns were played down.  Yes, the name is confusing.  What we did 
change was to make the subscripts, i, j (for P and Q respectively) to 
match those used in the paragraph describing the user-defined ordering 
under SYNC MEMORY.  Otherwise, the example would be even more confusing 
:-)
