The last paragraph of "General terminology" uses the term "coprocessor."
This has traditionally meant a hardware attachment to your main computer
to do things like linear algebra or floating-point arithmetic.  I would
write the first phrase something more like "A Fortran processor
optionally cooperates with one or more companion processors, that...."
