I spoke with a vendor representative yesterday (in my responsibility
inside my Institute as the market-research-for-our-models-guy) and he
was glad to hear that most of our stuff is now MPI ready.
Of course, we - as Dutch civil servants - cannot forgo solutions to our
computational problems (when to close the sea-barriers) that are cheap
because they just tend to lay the distinction between "local"
computation and "distant" computation (of which the results are
obtainable by "communication") at the right (sweet) spot.
That's why we need MPI. Of course, that will all be solved by Fortran 2008.
Kind regards,
