I've ridden the bus, and it does work, although to get between Emerald Suites
and the Strip (say, the MGM casino) you must make a mandatory transfer
at the South Strip Transfer terminal. You can't so far as I know
make a non-stop trip on city buses.
What I did was get on the Route 117 (I think) bus opposite the Emerald
Suites, ride it to the South Strip Transfer terminal, get off, then
get on The Deuce (the double-decker Las Vegas Strip bus) to MGM.
At least, if you get on the right bus, it is guaranteed to be going in the
right direction!
To get to MGM casino,
it's easier to take the Hotel shuttle (by prior arrangement) to
Mandalay Bay. There is a free monorail 24 hours a day at Mandalay Bay
that will take you to the Excalibur from which covered
walkways can be taken to MGM.
>From MGM one can take the Deuce up and down the Strip, or take an
expensive monorail to many stops including the Hilton (Star Trek Experience!)
or the Sahara.
