Maki:

J3 meetings have been at Emerald Suites for several years now. Although
it's cheap, we stay there because it's inexpensive. The web page you
quoted indicated that the guest was disappointed by not having access to
the shuttle. The ad this customer read is probably out of date.
Emerald Suites had a general-use shuttle several years ago, but they
discontinued it to reduce their costs. The J3 contract, however, gives
us access to their shuttle, so long as we schedule it in advance by a
few hours. For airport pickup, contact the hotel by e-mail and let them
know when you'll be arriving; they should pick you up without too much
delay. Instructions are in the "Transportation" paragraph of the
meeting notice (attached). If they won't pick you up, keep your taxi
receipt and the hotel will refund it.

Best regards,
Van

airport is via airport shuttle companies, bus and limousine
companies, taxi, or rental car. Fares vary from $3.50 to $21.00.
Information concerning ground transportation can be obtained from
the internet at the following URL addresses:

Hotel and nearby amenities:

  1. The hotel provides van transportation to/from the hotel to/from
anywhere in town for members of the Fortran group and their
families or guests staying in the reserved block, but it needs
     to be arranged in advance.

  2. All reserved rooms are one or two bedroom suites with separate
sleeping and living areas, bathroom, and kitchen. The kitchen
is fully equipped with refrigerator, stove, microwave, dish
     washer, dishes, cookware, and utensils.

  3. King size beds in all bedrooms.

  4. Complimentary local telephone calls with guest voicemail. The
hotel provides free local telephone service and connections to
toll free long distance numbers. However, the surcharges for
long distance calls and international calls made through the
hotel operator can be large. It is recommended that all long
distance and international calls being placed from your hotel
room be made using a prepaid calling card. Such prepaid calling
cards can be purchased very inexpensively from many department
stores, convenience stores, and discount buying clubs. There
are no additional hotel surcharges on either domestic long
distance or international calls made with prepaid calling cards.

  5. Complimentary satellite TV with premium stations.

  6. Complimentary high speed internet access in each guest suite and
high speed internet access connections in the meeting room. Note
that the internet connections are typically in the living area.
Some rooms have wireless, but just to be safe, bring a 10 - 25
foot CAT-5 or CAT-6 patch cable to connect your computer to the
RJ-45 connector. Some rooms have a hub on the desk; otherwise,
look behind the television, behind the desk, or behind the sofa.
Although most rooms have several RJ-45 connectors, only one
works, so if the one you find doesn't work, look for another one
before calling the front desk. J3 has a wireless hub and a
multiport hub for use in the meeting room.

  7. Complimentary lagoon style swimming pool, jacuzzi, and exercise
     facility.

  8. Two on-site coin-operated laundry facilities.

  9. Complimentary safe in every room.

 10. Complimentary meeting room with 1100 square feet of space, free
     audio/visual equipment, 2 full kitchens, 2 bathrooms.

 11. Convenience store with deli/pizza adjacent to property.

 12. Outdoor shopping mall adjacent to property with grocery store and
restaurants as well as other stores.

 13. Full-service South Point Hotel & Casino with buffet and sit-down
restaurant within easy walking distance of the hotel.
