Hello,

On the front page of the Monday, December 17, 2007 NY Times
Business page C1, there's an article "Faster Chips Are Leaving
Programmers In Their Dust" which may be of interest.

The thrust of the article is that chip makers will not be making
faster clocking chips so that programmers must use parallel
programming techniques to gain functional improvements.

The article quotes Gordon Bell, and mentions Burton Smith.
Another theme is how much effort Microsoft is spending
to allow their programmers to develop new programming languages
to enable parallel programming for consumer products.

The application of this news to co-arrays is apparent.
