I agree that the international meetings should not be held in Las Vegas. The 
US is far more convenient for me personally (cost, visa issues, etc.), and a 
lot of people are from the US, so I would say 2/3 should be in the US and 1/3 
abroad. We should try to attract more international (non US or UK) attendees 
to these meetings, and also not so easily reject generous offers from 
potential hosts. While travel to Japan is expensive, London appears more so, 
and I thus don't see the difference, as long as every attempt is made to keep 
the meeting costs low (finding more affordable housing etc.). Also the time 
of the meeting probably makes the biggest difference by affecting the travel 
costs (August being the worst!).
Is it possible to defer the offer until two meetings after London, so we have 
one US in-between. That is a lot of advance planning, but it is a compromise.
