Where did you get that from? I cannot imagine what it would mean before 
replacement, since the tokens cannot be concatenated until one knows what 
they are, which only happens at macro expansion.
Macros produce Fortran syntax, so the numbered constraints apply to their 
product as well as to them. I think :-)
