Subject: Call for Volunteers to Serve on the INCITS 2009
Awards and Symposium Ad Hoc – Responses Due by September 25, 2008

In anticipation of the establishment of the INCITS 2009 Awards and
Symposium Ad Hoc at the September 30 – October 2, 2008 meeting of the
INCITS Executive Board, members of the INCITS Executive Board and
Technical Committee Chairman are asked to consider volunteering to
serve on the ad hoc.

The INCITS EB officers and INCITS Secretariat have tentatively
identified “Effective International Participation” as the focus of the
2009 INCITS Symposium scheduled to be held April 20-21, 2009. The
following ideas have been discussed:

see if ANSI can provide training tailored to JTC 1 delegation
participation
invite US SC Chairs to attend the symposium given the international
focus of symposium – they will participate on the panel on
international issues/strategies
external US TAG Administrators and Chairs also invited
panel on status of JTC 1 Directives changes
status of Kavi system implementation – lessons learned, success
stories from TC Chairs to share with those less technically inclined,
future implementation wish list

New EB members are highly encouraged to consider volunteering – the ad
hoc will meet exclusively by teleconference.

The EB officers have agreed that the desire to ensure broadest
attendance would make the Maui location discussed at the July meeting
impractical. Orlando (FL), Austin (TX), Phoenix/Scottsdale (AZ) have
been identified as the target venues for the 2009 INCITS Symposium.

Requested Action

EB members and TC Chairmen interested in serving on the ad hoc are
asked to notify the INCITS Secretariat (jgarner at itic.org) by September
25, 2008.
